history

Settlement of the place is suspected as early as the pre-Franconian period.

In a document from Emperor Charles from 802 it is mentioned that the place Valeuiacum was given to the Trier bishops. In a letter from 949, a farm called Villa Valeriacum is mentioned. Fellerich was therefore a large estate that belonged to the Archbishops of Trier before 802. In the year 1000, Archbishop Ludolf von Trier certified a donation that linked the fate of Tawern and Fellerich ( Velrecke ) with the St. Marien monastery in Trier for 800 years . From 1153 until the French Revolution , Fellerich was part of the Duchy of Luxembourg. During this time the sovereignty changed several times. The place belonged to Burgundy, Austria, Spain, France and from 1815 to Prussia.

In 1628 the Willibrord church was built. In 1837 Fellerich got his own school house. A fire in 1846 destroyed the church and most of the village. The new building of today's chapel was completed on November 4, 1861.

On January 13, 1912, Fellerich was connected to the public water supply and in April of the same year to the light network. In the First World War, the place recorded twelve dead. 28 people lost their lives in the Second World War. Seven Fellerichs were missing. In 1956, the canalization work began with the subsequent construction of the streets. The new school was inaugurated on October 22, 1962 and was abandoned in 1969 after only seven years of use.

As part of the regional reform in 1970, Fellerich came to the Verbandsgemeinde Konz . On March 17, 1974, Fellerich was incorporated into Tawern and has been part of this local community ever since. In 1987, a new village square with a fountain was completed, where the Fellerich fair is celebrated on the last weekend in May. In addition to the volunteer fire brigade, the district has had its second club, the soccer club “1. FC Spartakus Fellerich 03 eV ".

A project planned in the 2000s - the construction of a golf course, a luxury hotel and a residential area with 400 homes on the "Fellericher Plateau", the large location between Fellerich and Nittel  - was fought between the community, investors, landowners and nature conservationists until it was abandoned in 2012 has been.
