Feng Xiaoting (Chinese: 冯潇霆; pinyin: Féng Xiāotíng; born October 22, 1985 in Dalian , Liaoning Province ) is a Chinese football player who is currently playing for Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League . Feng plays on the position of central defender .
Club career
Feng Xiaoting began his football career with Sichuan Guancheng in the 2003 league season, in which he quickly established himself as a regular player. Although he was only 17 years old, he was the captain for several games, making him the youngest captain in Chinese professional football.
A promising youth player, Feng quickly caught the attention of Dalian Shide , whom he joined in the 2005 league season despite being injured and missing much of the early part of the season. Even so, he played an important role in the second half of the season, when Dalian won the Chinese championship and cup.
After a two-year stint in South Korea with Daegu FC and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors , he decided shortly before the start of the 2011 season to move back to China to Guangzhou Evergrande. In the same season he was able to win the Chinese championship with Guangzhou Evergrande and conceded only 23 goals as a defender in the entire league season. In the next few years Feng was able to rise to one of the best Chinese footballers and won six other championships with the club and twice the AFC Champions League .
National team
First Feng was called up by the then coach Arie Haan in the Chinese national team, who let him play for the first time on March 17, 2004 in a 2-0 win against Myanmar . The following coach, Zhu Guanghu , decided that Feng was too inexperienced for the senior national team. Instead, he was part of the Chinese U-23 selection that played at the 2008 Summer Olympics and failed in the preliminary round. After the tournament, Feng was again promoted to the senior team when the then coach Vladimir Petrović included him for qualifying for the 2010 World Cup . He became a regular player for the national team and won the East Asian soccer championship in 2010 . On November 20, 2018, Feng scored his first international goal in a 1-1 draw against Palestine .
