Ferdinand August Josef Freiherr von Türckheim-Altdorf (born November 27, 1789 in Strasbourg , † April 4, 1848 in Darmstadt ) was a diplomat and member of parliament in the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Life

Ferdinand von Türckheim was the son of the diplomat Johann von Türckheim from the Alsatian family of Türckheim and his wife Johanna geb. Seufferheld. He married Leopoldina Heinrica born on February 8, 1832 in the Carthusian Chapel in Freiburg. In 1825 he joined the Grand Ducal Hessian Foreign Ministry and became chargé d'affaires at the court in Vienna. There he was appointed secret legation councilor in 1824. In 1825 he became a privy councilor and chamberlain . In 1826 he was appointed Minister Plenipotentiary at the court of the Duchy of Nassau in Wiesbaden. In 1827 he was chairman of the committee of the court opera theater and later general director of the court orchestra and the court theater. In 1829 he became chief master of ceremonies and in 1836 a member of the management of the Darmstadt state debt fund. From 1842 he served as envoy extraordinary and plenipotentiary minister at the court of the Kingdom of Bavaria in Munich. In 1845 he was appointed Lord Chamberlain.

From 1834 until the German Revolution of 1848/49 1848 he was appointed by the Grand Duke for life to be a member of the first chamber of the estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . His appointment was dated April 23, 1834 and he took the oath of deputies on April 29, 1834. From 1836 to 1847 he was the Chamber's first secretary. He was a member of the Damrstadt Freemason Lodge Johannes der Evangelist zur Eintracht . He was 58 years old.
