Fernand Lacroix

Fernand Lacroix CIM (born October 16, 1919 in Québec , Canada , † February 28, 1994 ) was a Canadian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Edmundston .

Life

Fernand Lacroix joined the religious community of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary in Charlesbourg in 1937 and made his profession on September 8, 1943 . He received on 10 February 1946 the bishop of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence , Napoléon-Alexandre Labrie CIM, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Lacroix was then sent to Rome for further studies , where he obtained a licentiate in canon law .

From 1949 Fernand Lacroix taught at the seminary in Charlesbourg. In October 1950 he became responsible for the formation of the students of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary. From 1953 to 1961 Lacroix taught at the seminary in Halifax before he became head of the scholasticate of his order in Charlesbourg. From August 19, 1966, Fernand Lacroix was Superior General of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary.

On August 19, 1970, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Bishop of Edmundston. The Archbishop of Moncton , Norbert Robichaud , donated him episcopal ordination on October 20 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop Emeritus of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, Napoléon-Alexandre Labrie CIM, and the Archbishop of Halifax , James Martin Hayes .

Lacroix resigned as Bishop of Edmundston on May 31, 1983.
