Norbert Robichaud

Norbert Robichaud (born April 1, 1905 in Saint-Charles , New Brunswick , Canada , † October 21, 1979 in Moncton ) was a Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Moncton .

Life

Norbert Robichaud studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Collège Sainte-Anne in Church Point and at the seminary in Halifax , Nova Scotia . He received on May 1, 1931 by the Bishop of Chatham , Patrice Alexandre Chiasson CIM , the sacrament of Holy Orders . In 1935 Norbert Robichaud went to Rome for further studies , where he received his doctorate in theology in 1938 at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas . Robichaud was incardinated on February 22, 1936 in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Moncton .

On July 25, 1942, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Archbishop of Moncton. The Apostolic Delegate in Canada, Archbishop Ildebrando Antoniutti , donated him episcopal ordination on September 8 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Chicoutimi , Georges-Arthur Melançon , and the Bishop of Saint John, New Brunswick , Patrick Albert Bray CIM.

Robichaud participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council . He resigned as Archbishop of Moncton on March 23, 1979.

Norbert Robichaud was Grand Chancellor of the Université de Moncton .
