Until 2000 the hall was named Pabellón Araba ; then it was named after the politician Fernando Buesa . He was killed by a car bomb on February 22nd, 2000 by the Basque underground organization ETA . The arena was expanded within a year. To do this, the dome roof was removed ; a fourth tier was added, increasing the capacity to around 15,000 seats. Construction work began in March 2011. The costs were estimated at around 25 million . The reopening of the expanded arena took place in early April 2012. In the first game on April 9th, the home team Caja Laboral beat Real Madrid in front of 15,504 spectators 67:66.
