The Pavelló Olímpic de Badalona ( Spanish Pabellón Olímpico de Badalona ), or Catalan Palau Municipal d'Esports de Badalona ( Spanish Palacio Municipal de Deportes de Badalona ), is a multi-purpose hall in the Spanish city of Badalona in the Catalan Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona . In 1992, the architects were Esteve Bonell and Francesc Rius the Architecture Prize Mies van der Rohe Award for European Architecture for the design of the building awarded.
The basketball club FIATC Joventut has played its home games in the arena since 1991 . The venue offers 12,500 seats for visitors during the games. It is also used for concerts, cultural and show events.
The hall was built for the basketball competitions of the Summer Olympics in 1992 and opened on September 17, 1991. During the Olympic basketball tournament, the famous Dream Team with NBA players Laettner , Robinson , Ewing , Bird , Pippen , Jordan , Drexler , Malone , Stockton , Mullin , Barkley and Johnson competed for the games in Badalona. In 1997, the Pavelló Olímpic de Badalona was one of the three Catalan venues for the men's European basketball championship in Spain.
