Fernando Alfredo Kanapkis García (born June 6, 1966 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The defender made his debut at the age of 16 in 1982 in the ranks of the Centro Atlético Fénix and was there in 1985 in the Uruguayan Segunda División in the squad. From 1986 to 1990 he then played for Danubio FC in the Uruguayan Primera División . The club became Uruguayan champions during this period in 1988 and also won the Torneo Competencia in the same year. In 1989 he advanced to the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores with the Montevideans . In Torneo Clausura 1991 he was in ten games (no goal) with the Argentine first division club Deportivo Mandiyú on the field and in the same year until July 1992 also in the ranks of the Montevidean big club Nacional . In 1992 he was once again contractually bound to Danubio FC. The 1992 Apertura, like the Torneo Clausura and the Torneo Apertura of the following year, he played again for Deportivo Mandiyú, where he made a total of 18 missions (no goal). In 1993 he moved to Brazil to Atlético Mineiro and was used there five times that year (no goal). Another use came during his membership in the club, which lasted until 1994, but not added. He returned to Uruguay, played there from Apertura 1995 in Montevideo for Nacional, 1996 for Huracán Buceo , 1997 again for Nacional and finally in 1998 for the Rampla Juniors . However, Kanapkis located in an interview from January 2011 the career phase with the Rampla Juniors in 1997. In 1999 he left the Uruguayan capital and moved to the west of the republic to the Río Uruguay to Paysandú Bella Vista during his brief membership in the first division. In 2001 he returned to Montevideo and joined the Racing Club until 2003 . At the club from Montevideo, he was at least in March 2001 as team captain. In the second division season of 2003 he was there in 20 league games for use and scored nine goals. He then played for Alianza Montevideo until his retirement in 2005 .

National team

Kanapkis was a member of the Uruguayan national team . He made his debut on April 30, 1992 under coach Luis Cubilla in a 1-0 home win in the international friendly against Brazil with a starting eleven. Also Ildo Maneiro , who later Cubilla in the office of national coach succeeded, took up Kanapkis' services back. Until his last appearance for the Celeste under Roberto Fleitas on October 13, 1993 in the 5-0 away defeat against Germany in Karlsruhe , he completed 20 international matches, in which he scored a total of five times in the opposing goal. In 1992 he was used at the Copa Lipton . In 1993 he took part in the Uruguayan squad at the Copa America in Ecuador .

After the career

After his active sporting career, the father of two Kanapkis occasionally took part in charity matches for former professional football players, for example for the team of the Uruguayan players' union Mutual Uruguaya de Futbolistas Profesionales . He is also active in an honorary management position for the union. He has held the office of treasurer there since at least February 2015. Together with his former Nacional team-mate Juan Ravera , who is now pastor of a Protestant Italian church, he also opened football schools in Montevideo and inland. Kanapkis now runs his soccer school in Barrio Prado, Montevidean .
