The Regensburg-Ziegetsberg transmitter in the Kumpfmühl-Ziegetsdorf-Neuprüll district of Regensburg is a telecommunications tower ( type FMT2 / 73 tower ) of Deutsche Telekom that was built from 1974 to 1976 . The current tower replaced a 128 meter high steel tower built in 1961, the capacity of which was already exhausted by the early 1970s.

Until December 2007, the Regensburg-Ziegetsberg telecommunications tower was 154 meters high, 135 meters of which was accounted for by the concrete shaft, the diameter of which decreased from 7.7 meters to 2 meters. With the discontinuation of analog broadcasting of public television programs ( BR , ZDF ) and private television programs ( ProSieben , RTL , Sat.1 , Tele 5 ) in favor of the switch to DVB-T , the almost 7 tonne and approx. 20 meter high peak away. The current altitude is therefore 140 meters.

The radio programs of Bayerischer Rundfunk , as well as the public digital television programs ( DVB-T ) are broadcast from the station Hohe Linie .

The telecommunications tower has a pulpit at a height of 75 to 83 meters. Originally it was planned to set up a tourist area in this area, but this was not realized due to cost reasons.

From January 16, 2003 to April 4, 2003, the Megaradio program was broadcast via a long-wire antenna attached to the tower shaft on the frequency 819 kHz with a power of 5 kW . After the transmitter stopped operating, this antenna was removed again.

The transmission tower was used as an AM-TV node until the mid-1990s .
