Ferrovie della Sardegna
The Ferrovie della Sardegna (Fds) are a Founded in 1989, Italian narrow gauge - railway company on Sardinia . In addition, the FdS operate several bus routes. Since 2008 the company has been operating under the name Trasporti Regionali della Sardegna (ARST, German: Regionaler Sardischer Transportbetrieb ).
history
In 1888, the Società italiana per le Strade Ferrate Secondarie della Sardegna (SFSS) put the first narrow-gauge lines with a gauge of 950 mm into operation in Sardinia. In the following years, other railway companies built narrow-gauge railway lines or took over their operation: The Ferrovie Complementari della Sardegna (FCS) , the Società anonima Ferrovie Settentrionali Sarde (SFSS) , the Strade Ferrate Sarde (SFS) and the Ferrovie Meridionali Sarde (FMS) . While the FMS stopped their rail traffic in 1974, only the SFS and the FCS remained to operate the routes. However, both companies had been under government administration since 1971. In 1989 they merged to form the new FdS. In 1997 the FdS were affiliated to the Italian state railway Ferrovie dello Stato . From 2002 the company is now subordinate to a government commissioner in the Ministry of Transport. Since June 2008 the FdS belong to the Azienda Regionale Sarda Trasporti (ARST) and operate under the name ARST Gestione FdS srl . In October 2010 the FdS were completely merged with this.
