The 43rd Festival da Canção took place on March 9, 2008 at the Teatro Camões in Lisbon . The hosting television station was RTP . At the same time it served as the Portuguese preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 . The singer Vânia Fernandes emerged as the winner . At the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade she reached 13th place in the final ; 2nd place in the semifinals .
