The 1st Festival da Canção ( Portuguese I Grande Prémio TV da Cançao 1964 ) took place on February 2, 1964 in the Lumiar Studios in Lisbon. It was founded as the Portuguese preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 1964 , in which Portugal participated regularly from that year.

The program was moderated by Maria Helena , Fialho Gouveia and Henrique Mendes .

As the winner, António Calvário emerged with the title of Oração . At the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen he did not score any points and in the end came in 13th with three other artists.
