Filip Lazarov ( Macedonian Филип Лазаров ; born April 21, 1985 in Titov Veles , SR Macedonia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Macedonian handball player who has been active for SG Ratingen since 2018 . Lazarov is mostly used in the left back space.

Career

society

The 1.99 m tall and 100 kg heavy right-hander started his professional career in 2003 with the Macedonian club RK Metalurg Skopje , with which he won the championship and cup in 2006. After a season with the Hungarian club PLER KC in Budapest , he returned to Metalurg in 2007. In 2008, 2010 and 2011 he won the title again and in 2009, 2010 and 2011 the trophy. Internationally, he reached the quarter-finals in the EHF Cup 2007/08 and in the EHF European Cup Winners' Cup in 2008/09 . For the 2011/12 season he moved to RK Pelister Bitola . After a short time, however, he joined the competitor RK Vardar Skopje . With Vardar he was champion in 2013, 2015 and 2016 and cup winner in 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016. In 2012 and 2014 he also won the SEHA league . In the EHF Champions League 2013/14 he eliminated the defending champion HSV Hamburg in the round of 16 , but then retired in the quarter-finals due to the away goals rule against SG Flensburg-Handewitt . In summer 2016 he moved to the Romanian first division club SCM Politehnica Timișoara . He has been playing for SG Ratingen since the 2018/19 season .

National team

Filip Lazarov is part of the Macedonian national team . In the 2009 World Cup he reached 11th place in the 2012 European Championship the fifth and in the World Cup 2013 14th place. So far, he has played 47 international matches in which he scored 133 goals. (As of December 11, 2016)
