Vatican film list
The Vatican's film list covers a total of 45 films that the Holy See believes are particularly recommended. The list was released on March 17, 1995 on the occasion of the film's 100th birthday . A commission of 15 international film scholars, appointed by Cardinal John Patrick Foley , selected the films, which were divided into the categories "Faith", "Values" and "Art". Cardinal Foley stressed that the list should not be viewed as canon , as there are other films that may be equally worth seeing that are not on the list.
