The Dark Red is a together with their headwaters local creek and then blind Rot 8.4 km long stream in Welzheimer Forest in Baden-Wuerttemberg Rems-Murr , who in Alfdorf Weiler Hüttenbühl from right and northwest with the coming of the North Black Red to that red flows together, which flows into the Lein at the Voggenberger Sägmühle in Alfdorf . It is one of quite a few streams in the vicinity that are called " red " at least in the basic word .

Overview and names
The stream system of the Finsteren Rot drains the western upper reaches of the Rot . The hydrological backbone consists confusingly three name segments together, the left top running local creek , the shorter the at the confluence something and catchment poorer blind red leads which then transmit the relatively insignificant left name-upper reaches of the beginning of the underflow Dark Red is taken Under which name the stream then unites with its main left upper reaches Black Red to Red .
If one uses - hydrologically consistent - the aforementioned three-part sequence of names Ortsbach - Blinde Rot - Finstere Rot as the main strand of the Finstere Rot , it has a length of 8.4 km, i.e. even 0.3 km more than the Black Red , which, however, is about a sixth more of the catchment area is drained and can therefore be hydrologically rightly considered the main upper reaches of the Red River system, whose main waters - then, given its source location, probably more with the upper course discussed here - are occasionally mentioned as Kaisersbacher Rot .
course
The uppermost main run Ortsbach begins a little northeast of the outskirts of Kaisersbach in the oak fields at about 531 m above sea level. NN as a corridor creek accompanied from the beginning by a wood gallery next to a dirt road to be drawn east towards the hamlet of Mönchhof . From the path the brook soon turns in a slow curve to the right and then touches a wood on the left slope, from which a short watering pond called Klingenbach flows towards it. Immediately thereafter, the drain of the Kaisersbach sewage treatment plant runs from the right, then the Ortsbach passes the Seehäusle estate, which is on the crossing between the Kaisersbach- Ziegelhütte -Mönchhof road. Less than 0.4 km further down, the 1.5 km long creek flows in a now almost southerly direction at a damp lowland next to the K 1892 into the even smaller Blinde Rot .
This blind red arises in the uppermost course about 0.5 km south-east of the center of Kaisersbach at a tip of the forest beginning in a fork in the field at about 510 m above sea level. NN . After a short run along the edge of the forest, it meanders through the Lichte forest and then steps southeast of Ziegelhütte to the edge of the forest that continues to accompany it on the right slope. A little later it takes up the Ortsbach and then turns steadily to the southeast, next to the K 1892, which also runs in the valley to Hüttenbühl. The forest now also runs down the slope to the left, with the Sägbühl farm at its lower edge. In the hallway hose of the so-called Täles him run at a Talspinne left the Wäschbach of, from right Lichtenbach to, then it passes the Kaiser Bacher Kleinweiler Taele and enter the hamlet Sägmühle the right Auenrand to which an old Mühlkanal leads.
After its return to the Blinden Rot, the stream enters a forest that fills the valley floor for less than half a kilometer. Again in the open Talflur lead and in quick succession right of Krebsbach in Ebersbergmühle and Gebenbach on Rotbachhöfle where the creek has almost half of its course behind. The slope is free between the inlets, in the forest gap on the right edge of the hill is the hamlet of Gibweiler-Gehren . In the further course, the sloping forests on both sides touch shortly afterwards again on the valley floor, the county road leaves the valley here on the left hill, where it touches the southernmost buildings of the hamlet of Cronhütte above a corridor slope . Between the Strohhof on a hilltop on the left and Schadberg on the right slope, a state road crosses the valley of the Blinden Rot for the first time, namely the L 1080 from Gschwend in the northeast to Welzheim in the southwest.
Immediately down the valley from Schadberg, whose lowest houses are on the brook, the Schwarzbach flows towards it from the west , immediately afterwards from the north the rather short upper course of the Finsteren Rot , a drainage of a small pond in front of the southern edge of Cronhütte. From here on the stream is now called Finstere Rot on its last third . To the left of the bank, for the first time, the municipality of Alfdorf borders , soon to the right of the large Hagerwald belonging to the city of Welzheim, and for the first half a kilometer there are again forest trees on both sides of the stream.
After the floodplain has opened narrowly again, the Hagerwald continues to the right, while various hamlets and farms lie in the open corridor above the left flank of the valley on the hilly corridor, some of them belonging to Alfdorf, some belonging to Kaisersbach again. Then the Finstere Rot flows below 445 m above sea level. NN into the approximately 3.0 hectare large Hagerwaldsee , in the lower part of which the Schmerbach flows into it from the west . The lake area and the further course of the stream are now entirely within the Alfdorf district. Below the dam, the Finstere Rot enters the open air again in a campsite near the hamlet of Hüttenbühl , which stands on and on the slope of the left valley spur and then soon flows to the right on the edge of the wide floodplain of the receiving Rot. After it has had a short tributary from the meanwhile Forest called forest has taken up on the right of the valley ascent, the Finstere Rot finally flows about half a kilometer south of the last houses in Hüttenbühl in the Rottal nature reserve between Hüttenbühl and Buchengehren from the right with their main upper course black red to red .
The main line of the Finsteren Rot with the upper course Ortsbach and the middle course Blinde Rot to the northeast of Kaisersbach is 8.4 km long, with the upper course Blinde Rot from southeast of Kaisersbach 8.2 km, the lower course section called Finstere Rot 2.8 km from a little to Schadberg, the entire Finstere Rot with its short upper course from its source pond south of the Cronhütte 3.7 km. The mean bed slope from the highest headwaters of the local stream to 531 m above sea level. NN to the mouth at about 434 m above sea level. NN is around 11 ‰.
With 2.0 km the longest and with approx. 1.9 km² at the same time the most catchment area-rich inflow to the main line is the Schwarzbach which flows from the right into the Blinde Rot .
Catchment area
The Finstere Rot has a catchment area of 14.3 km². It extends about 7.3 km from the donkey sacks a little north of Kaisersbach over the origin of the Ortsbach to the southeast to the mouth; across it it is a maximum of 2.8 km wide. From the middle reaches, the blind red and later the dark red flow closer to the left watershed to the receiving water red .
The most important watershed stretches along the northern edge of the catchment area, separating it from the drainage area of the upper Murr , which here receives the other side runoff via the finely feathered upper reaches of its large tributary Otterbach . At its northwest corner on the western edge of the settlement of Kaisersbach is also the 573 m above sea level on the hill of the water tower . NN highest elevation in the catchment area, on the northeast near the associated hamlet Mönchhof , after lower altitudes in between, another 553.8 m above sea level. NN reached. All of the other competitors named below ultimately drain into the linen like the Finstere Rot itself . At Mönchhof the border bends to the southeast and pulls in front of the upper course Schwarze Rot, which flows to the left of the sheath, to the receiving Rot and then this itself through the high hamlets of Ebersberg , Cronhütte and Hellershof to Hüttenbühl , where after another half a kilometer in the Aue der Rot then reached the mouth.
Then she climbs quickly to the west the right edge heights of their valley and then runs northwest, shortly before the top catchment area of the smaller Lein influx iron Bach , then before her almost parallel running top Lein itself, such as on the route of the of Aichstrut from past Gmeinweiler through Gibweiler to back to Kaisersbach running L 1894; here the ridge heights to the neighboring valley are soon over 550 m above sea level. NN . At the Kaisersbach water tower, this right watershed connects to the northern one.
More than two thirds of the catchment area, mainly on the upper and middle runners, belong to the municipality of Kaisersbach ; Alfdorf and Welzheim , which almost exclusively has forest areas and no settlement area , are divided into the rest . Overall, the area has a large proportion of forest, the fields are mainly on the plateaus at the edge of the watershed.

- Schmerbach , from the right and west in the lower lake, 1.5 km and approx. 1.2 km². Arises at about 503 m above sea level. NN in the western Hagerwald and is the city limit of Welzheim (left bank) to Alfdorf (right bank).
- Rotholzgraben , from the left and west to about 438 m above sea level. NN below Alfdorf-Hüttenbühl just before the mouth, 0.6 km and about 0.2 km². Arises at over 465 m above sea level. NN in the redwood .
Confluence of the Finsteren Rot from the right and northwest to approx. 434 m above sea level. NN about 0.6 km south of Alfdorf - Hüttenbühl shortly before the Breitweise with their main left upper course from Black Red to Red . The creek is here with its left main upper course Blinde Rot 7.9 km, on the name course with its short left upper course only 3.7 km long and has a catchment area of 14.3 km² behind it.
geology
The sources of the two uppermost courses, Ortsbach and Blinde Rot, lie a little below the border with the Black Jura in the Upper Keuper or in the Upper Middle Keuper . The Finstere Rot then also flows into the Mittelkeuper, namely in the silica sandstone ( Hassberge formation ) or above. Already from about the confluence of the two above-mentioned upper courses at the entrance to the Kaisersbach Valley , the brook runs in a floodplain that has been leveled by flood sediment and runs continuously to the mouth. The Black Jura is located on the plateau along the entire western, northern and a short stretch of the northern watershed. At Aichstrut, an abandoned quarry close to either side of the watershed is opening up the erosion-resistant Angulate sandstone, which is responsible for maintaining the plateau . Little north of it is Gmeinweiler on the black Jura still a small island quaternary deposited loess .
The stream begins close to the strata in the north from the Black Jura down to the Keuper and roughly follows the direction of the fall of the strata.
nature
The body of water lies in the Welzheimer Forest and in the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park . From the beginning of the local stream, the stream is followed by a chain of wetlands.
The Hägeles- and fountain blade , a rocky Stubensandstein blade ( Lowenstein lineup ) just east of the Imperial Bacher Täles with erosion formations and a rich moss and Farnvegetation is a nature reserve.
