Fish Luzie
The quick-witted fishmonger Johanna Lucie Henriette Flechtmann , born in Bremen , was born under the name Fisch-Luzie . Hartig, (born March 9, 1850 in Bremen; † August 10, 1921 there ) known as a popular original .
biography
Flechtmann came from a family of fishmongers in Neustadt . After a brief first marriage, she married the locksmith Albert Flechtmann and then separated from him in 1890. She now lived at Grosse Annenstrasse 96 and later again at Neustadtsbahnhof. Here she ran a trade in fish and clothing. From her two marriages she had 17 children to look after. She was extremely enterprising and resolute too. In her own boat she drove towards the fishing boats to quickly buy fresh fish . She sold the goods at her fish stand on the Bremen market square in front of the old stock exchange . As a quick-witted, courageous trader, she became a well-known city original in Bremen , who once and for all resolutely defended her rights using fish as a weapon.
The Fischhandlung Flechtmann GmbH existed until 1998 , operated by their sons Hermann and Johann.
Flechtmann was also committed to the football club FC Stern Bremen and was probably the first woman in Germany to sponsor a football club.
When the popular fish Luzie was buried, the police had to cordon off the small cemetery in the Buntentor, which could barely contain the large mourners.
