The Fishery Research Vessel 6210 is a type of ship from the Dutch Damen Shipyards Group .

description

Two units of this type of ship were built by Damen Shipyards Galati as part of the ORET program, a Dutch development aid program, for the Angolan Ministry of Agriculture, Development and Fisheries. The fisheries protection vessels are used to monitor fishing grounds and protect against illegal fishing in Angola's exclusive economic zone . The country is working with Namibia and South Africa in this area as part of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) . The ships can also be used for other tasks such as rescue operations in emergencies at sea.

Technical data and equipment

The vessels are powered by two MTU - Diesel engines of the type 16V4000M70 each with 2,320  kW power driven. The motors act on two controllable pitch propellers . The ships are equipped with a bow thruster with 150 kW power.

Three generators powered by Yanmar diesel engines, each with an apparent power of 170  kVA, are available to generate electricity . An emergency generator with an apparent power of 100 kVA, powered by a Yanmar diesel engine, was also installed.

The ships are equipped with two fast dinghies. There is a helicopter landing deck at the stern . For fire fighting, there are two fire- fighting monitors on the observation deck, each with a capacity of 300 m³ / hour. Installed.

There is space for 45 crew members on board . The ships are equipped with an infirmary with a relaxation room for 12 people.

The ships are operated under the Angolan flag . Home port is Luanda . They are named after the rulers of the kingdom of Ndongo in what is now Angola .
