Flo Ankah
Flo Ankah (* 5. February 1983 in Bourgoin-Jallieu as Florence Annequin ) is a French actress and filmmaker . As a chanteuse she appears under the pseudonym Floanne . Born and raised in France, she has lived in New York City since 2000 . Ankah is the founder of SIMPLE Production , an organization promoting young artists from different cultures.
Life
Floanne grew up on a farm in Châbons in the Isère department with two siblings. She graduated from Merce Cunningham Dance Studio and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater for improvisation comedy . This was followed by further training in acting at HB Studio and the School for Film and Television , at the Alvin Ailey School . In New York she initially worked as an assistant to Jerry Schatzberg , the singer Frank Simms and the sculptor Strong-Cuevas, as well as to Frances Kazan, whom she helped to organize the archive of Elia Kazan .

Flo Ankah worked on the production crew for various cinema and television films (e.g. Then She Found Me , One Life to Live ) and theater ( The Hunchback of Notre Dame , Julius Caesar ), as well as at the Public Theater. She also gave readings with theater greats such as Israel Horovitz and worked as a singer for feature films ( The Limits of Control , What Just Happened ) and commercials. The web series Life with Flow is about her work on short film collaborations. Floanne plays roles at the Magnet Theater and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.

She is a chanteuse and songwriter . Her repertoire includes French chanson , American classical music and her own songs. She presents her solo nightclub shows, Floin 'to America and Edith Piaf Alive with director Isengart and Lina Koutrakos in nightclubs such as Joe's Pub, The Metropolitan Room, The Triad Theater, The Harmonie Club, Symphony Space and the New York Botanical Garden . Her interpretation of Michelle of the Beatles is on the 75th edition of The Beatles Complete on ukulele. She plays in the Broadway-style musical Loving the Silent Tears , directed by Vincent Paterson, alongside Jody Watley , Jon Secada , Liz Callaway, Debbie Gravitte , Kiril Kulish, Mark Janicello and Patti Cohenour. Floanne trains her voice coloratura soprano with April Evans.
dance
Ankah's choreographies merge yoga exercises, organic movements and the human voice as a musical instrument . Her creations are collaborative and often consist of video projections and soundscapes. She has presented her work in the movement research series at Judson Church, the Merce Cunningham Studio, Abrons Arts Center, Dance New Amsterdam and HERE Arts Center, and has performed with artists such as Mina Nishimura, Nina Morrison, Meredith Monk (in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum ), John Duncan , Michou Szabo and Noémie Lafrance (in McCarren Park Pool).
Movie
Ankah combines dance / performance and film and makes experimental films . Her film ONE WAY won the Best Experimental Film award at the 2008 Big Apple Film Festival . Your film Waterfront Access? , won the 2010 Golden Reel Award in the Best Dance Film category at the Tiburon International Film Festival , which resulted in a new collaboration with artist Joe Zolkowski . She is currently working on a documentary entitled Le Maréchal et l'Astragale about her father and his farm in south-east France.
