Flonicamid is a chemical compound from the group of pyridine carboxamides and is used as an insecticide under the trade name Teppeki . Flonicamid acts selectively against uniforms and is used against aphids . The exact mechanism of action is not known.

Extraction and presentation

Flonicamid can be prepared by reacting trifluoromethylpyridinecarboxylic acid with thionyl chloride and aminoacetonitrile .

Admission

In the European Union, Flonicamid was approved for use as an insecticide with effect from September 1, 2010. Flonicamid is contained in approved plant protection products in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
