Florian Bergmann (musician)
Florian Bergmann (* 1984 in Berlin ) is a German jazz and improvisation musician ( alto saxophone , bass clarinet , clarinet , also flute ) and composer.
Live and act
Bergmann studied between 2004 and 2009 at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin and the Berlin University of the Arts . Influenced by his teacher Frank Gratkowski , he pursues a microtonal approach based on sound expansion on the reed instruments. Since 2008 he has been active in the Fo [u] r Alto formation . In 2010 he released the album Rendez-Vous (Umlaut Records) under his own name , the duets with Almut Kühne (voice), Benjamin Weidekamp (clarinet), Matthias Müller (trombone), Gregoire Simon (viola), Antonio Borghini (double bass), Includes Frank Gratkowski (bass clarinet), Christian Marien (drums), Hannes Lingens (accordion) and Clement Nourry (guitar). The album Cobalt Cluster followed in 2015 with free improvisations and compositions for quartet.
Bergmann composed works for jazz groups and various ensembles of contemporary music, including for the Trio Transmitter he founded (with Benedikt Bindewald and Alba Gentili-Tedeschi), with which he released the album Camera obscura at Neos Music in 2016 . Since 2011 he has been working in Sonic Essence , an electroacoustic research project with everyday sounds, from which he creates compositions; The work Schall und Rauch - Version Umlaut for instrumental ensemble and sampler was premiered in Paris in 2018.
As a composer, director and performer he continues to work in interdisciplinary stage plays, including a. in his performance Perspectives for dance, video and two musicians , which premiered in Berlin's Ballhaus Ost . He also composed for theater and film. Together with Benedikt Bindewald he created the music for the production Klangquadrat , a music theater piece for children from 2 years.
He also was Jörg Schippas group necessarily , in a saxophone ensemble led by Hayden Chisholm ( Car Poetica ), in Frank Gratkowskis Fo [u] r Alto and in the sextet Pin Addix to the trumpeter Sebastian Piskorz operates. Currently (2018) he is also working with Joris Rühl , Pierre Borel , Simon Rummel , Antonin Gerbal , Sébastien Beliah and Meinrad Kneer .
Prizes and awards
Bergmann was awarded the Hanns Eisler Prize for Contemporary Interpretation 2011.
