Florian Gruber (born December 26, 1993 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a German kitesurfing world champion.

Life

Florian Gruber lives in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and attended the technical college in Weilheim . There he passed the technical diploma . Then he decided to concentrate entirely on kitesurfing for the near future. Since the 2014/15 winter semester, he has had a place at the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences and is taking the Business International Management (BIM) bachelor's degree for top athletes .

Gruber practices kitesurfing in the course racing discipline , in which, as in the regatta race in sailing, a designed barrel course is circled and the fastest is the winner. He is a member of the Altmühltal sailing club in Muhr am See in the Franconian Lake District and runs a surf school with his father and trainer Erwin Gruber in Absberg on the Kleiner Brombachsee .

Gruber also competes in the freestyle and slalom disciplines , takes part in kitefoil races and is active in snow kite events in winter. As a recreational sport, he goes skiing and is active on the EV Mittenwald ice hockey team.

    • New record holder in the Race around the Island in 1:43 hours for the 75 km long route around Fehmarn as well as 5th place in the Foil World Cup race that was held at the same time

    • 1st place at the German championships in the race with victories in the four individual events on Sylt, on Usedom, in front of Heiligenhafen and in front of St. Peter-Ording as well as 1st place in the slalom discipline

    • 1st place at the AMAROK IKA Snowkite Worldcup Resia 2019 on Lake Reschen in the disciplines Long Distance and Course Racing
    • 1st place at the Multivan Summer Opening Sylt, the first run of the 2019 German championship, in the racing and slalom disciplines
    • 1st place at the Multivan Kitesurf Masters on Usedom, the second run of the German Championship 2019, in the disciplines of racing and slalom
    • 1st place at the Multivan Kitesurf Masters in Heiligenhafen, the third run of the German Championship 2019, in the racing discipline
