The Abakan airport ( Russian Аэропорт Абакан ) is the international airport of the Russian city of Abakan , Khakassia , Siberia . The airport is located on the outskirts of Abakan, 4.5 km northwest of the city center. It has a passenger and a freight terminal.

history

In 1938, the Abakan airline was founded to set up an airline in the Khakassia autonomous region. She also ran the airport. On March 1, 1993, the airline and the airport were split into two independent companies. Since then, the airport has been operating under the name Международный Аэропорт Абакан (Meschdunarodny Aeroport Abakan). In 1996 the airport was privatized as a stock corporation.
