geography

course

For the first half of its course, the trout stream is a very straight ditch between meadows and a few fields, which at times falls completely dry. This begins at about 492  m above sea level. NHN in the Gewann Strut about 350 meters east-southeast of the water tower between the Bühlertanner hamlets of Hettensberg and Fronrot , the outskirts of which are about 300 meters to the northwest and southwest. From here on, the ditch moves with a slight gradient and in a shallow, widening hollow eastwards towards the Große Heide forest . At the edge of the forest, in the area of the mouth of a nameless ditch running from the southwest almost to the end next to a dirt road - length around 0.3 km, catchment area around 0.2 km² - a 0.1 ha pond on the right bank. In the forest dominated by spruce trees, it soon shows a somewhat more winding and steady water-bearing course with sand and gravel in the bed. Only towards the end does it flow a little more gently. It flows out about 300 meters south of the Rosenberger Betzenhof at about 466.6  m above sea level. NHN opposite the accompanying narrow meadow floodplain from the right into the upper Blinde Rot .

The trout stream is 1.9 km long and flows after a run with a mean bottom slope of around 14 ‰ about 25 meters below its origin.

Catchment area

The trout stream drains about 1.3 km² in the northwestern Ellwanger mountain , a sub- natural area of the Swabian-Franconian forest mountains . In the area there is the silica sandstone ( Hassberge Formation ) everywhere , a leveling layer of the Middle Keuper . The highest points in the catchment area are on the southern edge in Zimmerbühl at 501.3  m above sea level. NHN at its westernmost point at the water tower mentioned at 500.2  m above sea level. NHN .

From here on, the following streams compete in turn on the other side of the overall watershed: in the northwest the Hettensbach , which drains over the Dammbach to the Bühler ; in the north-northeast of the Kaltenbach , which also feeds the Blinde Rot a little upwards at Betzenhof ; on the southeast side of the Höllholzbach , the next right tributary of the Blinden Rot; in the south-west of the upper Sauerbach of the Avenbach, which runs back to the Bühler.

The western half of the catchment area lies in an open corridor, in which the meadows slightly outweigh the fields, while the eastern half is forest. There is nowhere settlement. The entire area belongs to the municipality of Bühlertann .
