The Franconian Switzerland Marathon is a marathon that was held for the first time in 2000 and takes place in Franconian Switzerland in September and is organized by the Forchheim District Sports Office . Between 2000 and 2007, the race was started alternately in Forchheim and Ebermannstadt . From 2008 to 2014 the start was in Forchheim and the finish in Ebermannstadt. From 2004 to 2014 there was also a 16 km run (or a 26 km run at the start in Ebermannstadt), and since 2015 a half marathon and a 10 km run instead . A team marathon and marathons for inline skaters and handbikers are also offered as other competitions .

The route of this landscape marathon runs mainly on the B 470 . The participants run through Franconian Switzerland in the deeply cut and rocky lower valley of the Wiesent to the turn in Behringersmühle . In the course of the race, the resorts of Streitberg and Muggendorf are crossed.

Trivia

In the 2015 race, the Ethiopian Firaa'ol Eebbisaa Nagahoo missed the start, went on the running track with more than five minutes behind the field and was still able to win the marathon.
