Frédéric Martel (born October 28, 1967 in Châteaurenard near Avignon , France ) is a French sociologist , author and journalist .

Life

Martel studied philosophy, political science and sociology in France. After completing his studies, he worked for the French embassy in Bucharest (Romania) from 1990 to 1992 . From 1993 to 1994 he was employed as a political advisor to the French politician Michel Rocard . From 1997 to 2000 he was Martine Aubry's political advisor . He was employed as a culture attaché at the French Embassy in Washington, DC from 2001 to 2005. As an author, he has written several books and has written various articles for international newspapers such as Littéraire , L'Express , Dissent , The Nation and Haaretz magazines . Martel produces its own radio show Masse Critique on the French radio station France Culture .
