Frédéric de Reiffenberg (born November 14, 1795 in Mons , † April 18, 1850 in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode / Sint-Joost-ten-Node ) was a Belgian polygraph , historian , librarian , Romanist and Medievalist .

life and work

Baron Frédéric de Reiffenberg was professor of philosophy at the University of Leuven from 1822 and of history at the University of Liège from 1835 . In 1837 (after a plagiarism affair ) he went to the Royal Library of Belgium as chief curator . He was a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Fine Arts of Belgium (1823) and several foreign academies and scientific societies. Since 1842 he was a foreign member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . In 1844 he was elected a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences .

Reiffenberg published six volumes of Archives philologiques (1825–1830), the Annuaire de la Bibliothèque royale de Belgique , 12 volumes (1840–1851), and the Bulletin du bibliophile belge (1845ff). He published Vol. 9.1 (1844) in the library of the Litterarian Society in Stuttgart .
