François-Noé de Crousaz

François-Noé de Crousaz also François Noé de Crousaz ( German  Franz Noa von Crousaz ; born November 14, 1696 in Chexbres , † September 22, 1768 in Zeitz ) was a lieutenant general from Electoral Saxony .

Life

Origin and family

François came from the French-speaking Swiss noble family Crousaz . His parents were the castellan at Glérolles Castle François de Crousaz and Jeanne Judith de Mellet. He was not married and left no children. As a universal heir he appointed a relative Ensign von Crousaz, who served in his regiment.

Career

Crousaz began his career with the Dutch regiment "de Mestral". He took part in the War of the Spanish Succession, in particular the battle of Malplaquet , and became a lieutenant . In 1714 he switched to Spanish services. A little later he must have joined the Saxon Army , where he held the rank of colonel in 1745 . Crousaz took part in all the Silesian Wars and rose to major general in 1752 . At the time of the surrender of the Saxon army , he was in command of the infantry regiment established in Zeitz. He was a Prussian prisoner of war and after peace was established in 1763 he held the character of lieutenant general. He spent his twilight years in Zeitz and was finally buried on September 26, 1768 in the castle church, alternatively in the monastery church.
