Francesco Panfilo
Francesco Panfilo SDB (born November 23, 1942 in Vilminore di Scalve , Bergamo province ) is an Italian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Rabaul .
Life
Francesco Panfilo entered the religious order of the Salesians of Don Bosco and received on 27 April 1974, the sacrament of Holy Orders .
On 25 June 2001 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the Bishop of Alotau-Sideia . The bishop emeritus of Alotau-Sideia, Desmond Charles Moore MSC , donated him episcopal ordination on September 8 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Maasin , Precioso Cantillas SDB, and the Bishop of Dili , Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo SDB. On March 18, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to Coadjutor Archbishop of Rabaul . Francesco Panfilo became Archbishop of Rabaul on August 11, 2011, succeeding Karl Hesse MSC, who resigned for reasons of age.
On June 19, 2020, Pope Francis accepted Francesco Panfilo's resignation because of his age.
