Francesco Spanedda

Francesco Spanedda (born June 21, 1910 in Ploaghe ; † July 25, 2001 ) was Archbishop of Oristano .

Life

Francesco Spanedda was ordained a priest on August 15, 1934 .

Pius XII. appointed him on December 23, 1956 Bishop of Bosa . The Archbishop of Sassari , Arcangelo Mazzotti, OFM , consecrated him bishop on March 17th the next year ; Co- consecrators were Giovanni Pirastru , Bishop of Iglesias , and Antonio Tedde , Bishop of Ales e Terralba .

He attended all the sessions of the Second Vatican Council . Paul VI appointed him on March 18, 1972 Bishop of Alghero . The Pope appointed him Archbishop of Oristano on March 17, 1979 . On November 30, 1985, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
