Francesco Turrisi

Francesco Turrisi (born December 9, 1977 in Turin ) is an Italian musician ( accordion , piano , Fender Rhodes , Zarb , Riq ) and composer who lives in Ireland .

Live and act

From 1997 Turrisi studied jazz piano and early music at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag , where he earned his bachelor's and master's degree. Between 2004 and 2007 he played harpsichord and percussion with the music ensemble L'Arpeggiata , with whom he performed at music festivals in Europe, Turkey, Russia and China. In 2006 he moved to Dublin to work as a musician and music teacher. He is co-founder of the Tarab Ensemble , which combines Mediterranean music with jazz improvisation and traditional Irish music (and performed with Savina Yannatou at the 2011 Bray Jazz Festival ). In 2007 he received a grant from the Arts Council, which led to the production of the piano trio album Si Dolce e 'il Tormento , with original compositions influenced by Italian music of the 17th century. Turrisi plays in the ensembles Yurodny (with Gilad Atzmon ), eX Early Music Ensemble and Morisca ; also with Dave Liebman , Jean Toussaint , Furio Di Castri , Gianluigi Trovesi , Gabriele Mirabassi , Maria Pia De Vito , Theodosii Spassov , John Ruocco , The King's Singers , Véronique Gens , Dominique Visse , Philippe Jaroussky , Vittorio Ghielmi , Lee Santana , Pepe Habichuela , Lucilla Galeazzi , Bijan Chemirani , Zohar Fresco , Pedram Khavar Zamini and Abdullah Chhadeh .
