Pedram Khavar Zamini

Pedram Khavar Zamini ( Pidrām Khāvarʹzamīnī , Pedram Khavarzamini ; * 1975 in Tehran ) is an Iranian tombak player and composer.

Khavar Zamini is a student of Kamyar Mohabbat and Bahman Rajabi . After graduating, he performed with Rajabi and worked on his tombak textbook. In 1999 he edited a collection of works by the tombak master Amir Nasser Eftetah with percussionist Hamid Ghambary . He then founded a tombak group called Varashan and performed the piece Koutah with Ghambary , a separate composition for tombak ensemble . He continued to belong to the music group Aftab , worked with Kayhan Kalhor and Ali Akbar Moradi and played compositions by Reza Fayaz .

In 2002 he performed with Kayhan Kalhor in Germany, where he met Ross Daly . He then decided to move to Greece, where he worked under Ross' direction on the album Iris (with the Persian, Indian and Greek musicians Dhruba Ghosh , Partha Sarathi Mukherjee , Hamid Khabbazi , Vassilis Rakopoulos , Kelly Thoma and Giorgis Xylouris ) and graduated check out Ross's Ensemble Labyrinth . He has also worked with musicians such as Mohamad Rahim Khushnawaz , Dariush Talai , Ballaké Sissoko , Ellika Frisell , Khaled and Mohammad Hossein Arman , Siamak Aghaei , Habil Əliyev and Mitsos Stavrakakis . With Jon Balke and Siwan , two albums have been created for ECM since 2009 ; On the second album Nahnou Houm there is also a composition by him.

In 2003 he took part in the Mehregan Festival in Yazd at the invitation of Ali Akbar Moradi , in 2005 he performed with Pejman Hadadi and the Zarbang Ensemble in Cologne. He had other appearances at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, the Lincoln Center Hall in New York, the Cleveland Museum of Art , the Thomas Jefferson Theater in Washington and the Chicago Cultural Center in the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, the Turkey and Switzerland.
