Piotr Henryk Sawczuk (born January 29, 1962 in Puczyce , Poland ) is a Polish clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Drohiczyn .

Life

Piotr Sawczuk grew up as the son of a farming family in Mazovia . After graduating from the Lyceum in Biała Podlaska , he entered the Siedlce seminary . On June 6, 1987, he received the sacrament of ordination through the Bishop of Siedlce , Jan Mazur .

After two years as vicar in Wisznice, Sawczuk began studying canon law at the Catholic Theological Academy ( Akademia Teologii Katolickiej ) in Warsaw in 1989 . In 1996 he was at Jerzy Syryjczyk with the dissertation Communicatio in sacris doctorate . He then worked as a notary curiae and taught at the diocesan seminary. In 2003 he became honorary canon and chancellor of the diocese; In 2009 he became cathedral capitular and vicar general of the diocese of Siedlce. Pope Benedict XVI awarded him the title of Papal Honorary Chaplain in September 2010 .

On January 19, 2013, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. as titular bishop of Ottana and auxiliary bishop in Siedlce. The Bishop of Siedlce, Zbigniew Kiernikowski , gave him on April 6 of that year in the Basilica of the Annunciation , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Celestino Migliore , Apostolic Nuncio in Poland , and Henryk Marian Tomasik , Bishop of Radom .

On June 17, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Drohiczyn. The inauguration took place on July 20 of the same year.
