Francis Anthony Aylmer Maude, Baron Maude of Horsham (born July 4, 1953 in Abingdon , Oxfordshire , Berkshire ) is a British politician and was Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Paymaster General from 2010 to 2015 . He is a member of the House of Lords and was Minister of State for Trade and Investment from 2015 to 2016.

Maude, son of politician Angus Maude , who also Paymaster 1979-1981 General was graduated in law at Corpus Christi College of the University of Oxford and was then as a lawyer working.

His political career began when he was elected as a candidate of the Conservative Party to the House of Commons in 1983, in which he represented the constituency of Warwickshire North until 1992 .

In 1989 he became Minister of State for Europe in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the government of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher . Between 1990 and 1992 he was the Financial Secretary (Financial Secretary) to the Treasury ( Treasury ). After losing his lower house mandate in 1992, he left the government.

In 1997 he was again elected a member of the House of Commons and has since represented the constituency of Horsham . In 1998 he was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer in the shadow cabinet of the Conservatives and then Foreign Minister in 2000. He held this office until 2001.

Between 2005 and 2007, Maude was Chairman ( Chairman ) of the Conservative Party. Since June 2007 he has been Minister for Cabinet Office in the Conservative Shadow Cabinet and Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster .

After the Conservative Party's victory in the 2010 general election, Prime Minister David Cameron appointed him Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Paymaster General in his extended government on May 11, 2010 , and took part in cabinet meetings in this capacity. After the general election in 2015 , he stepped down and was appointed Minister of State for Trade and Investment. He was also appointed Life Peer on May 26, 2015 as Baron Maude of Horsham , of Shipley in the County of West Sussex, and thus a member of the House of Lords.
