Francisco de Sales Alencar Batista OCarm (born April 17, 1968 in Araripina , Pernambuco ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Cajazeiras .

Life

Francisco de Sales Alencar Batista joined the Carmelite Order , made his profession on January 24, 1988 and received the sacrament of priestly ordination on November 29, 1995 after studying theology in Olinda and Dublin .

After further studies he obtained a licentiate in spiritual theology at the Teresianum in Rome . After various activities in the pastoral care of the parish, the formation of the next generation of the order and as a provincial of the order province of Pernambuco, he was general secretary of the order of the Carmelites in Rome.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Cajazeiras on June 8, 2016 . The Archbishop of Maceisso , Antônio Muniz Fernandes OCarm, ordained him episcopal on August 14th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Olinda e Recife , Antônio Fernando Saburido OSB , and his predecessor José González Alonso . The inauguration in the diocese of Cajazeiras took place on September 4, 2016.
