Antônio Muniz Fernandes OCarm (born August 11, 1952 in Princesa Isabel ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Maceió .

Life

Antônio Muniz Fernandes joined the Congregation of the Carmelites at, put on 20 February 1976, the profession , and received on 24 May 1980, the priestly ordination .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Guarabira on February 4, 1998 . The Archbishop of Paraíba , Marcelo Pinto Carvalheira , donated him episcopal ordination on May 24th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were José Cardoso Sobrinho OCarm, Archbishop of Olinda e Recife , and Paulo Cardoso da Silva OCarm, Bishop of Petrolina . As a motto he chose ERIT VESTER SERVUS .

On November 22, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Archbishop of Maceió. The inauguration took place on February 4th of the next year.
