Frank Reiland

Frank Reiland (born October 25, 1967 in Trier ) is a German Brigadier General and has been Head of Department  II (Personnel Recruitment) at the Federal Office for Personnel Management of the Bundeswehr in Cologne since October 17, 2018 .

Military career

Training and first uses

After graduating from high school in 1987, Reiland joined the 6th Air Force Training Regiment  3 in Roth as an officer candidate in the German Armed Forces . After his officer training from 1987 to 1988, he completed his studies in vocational and business education from 1988 to 1992, which he graduated as a graduate educator (univ.). He worked in various positions in the protection of objects in the Air Force , including functions as a platoon leader in the Brekendorf Air Force Security Squadron of Radar Command Department 13 and as an object protection teaching officer at the infantry school in Hammelburg and at the Air Force officers' school in Fürstenfeldbruck .

From 1995 to 1997 he was the unit leader of the Air Force Security Squadron "Memmingerberg" in Fighter Bomber Wing 34 in Memmingen . During this time, the structurally necessary merger of the association's second property protection unit with Reilands Staffel, which he had to carry out, also fell.

Service as a staff officer

From 1999 to 2001 Reiland was trained as an officer in the General Staff Service in the 44th General Staff Course of the Air Force at the Command Academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg . His service as a staff officer led him in the next few years through assignments in personnel management and organization, for example as Head of Personnel (A1) of the 4th Air Force Division, as Head of Department in the Air Force Command and as a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Defense (PSZ I 5). From 2006 to 2009, Reiland received another troop command as battalion commander of the I./Luftwaffenausbildungsregiment, before he was subsequently deployed for the second time in the Federal Ministry of Defense (Fü L I 1). 2011 took place Reilands promotion to colonel , in his capacity as group leader structure planning in the Air Force Office he fell on this post the implementation of the organizational restructuring of the Air Force structure. After two more uses in the Command Air Force as Head of Unit for organizational matters and as competent Chief of Division staff in the Joint Support Service Command Reiland was used from 2016 as Head of Unit P I 1 (HR strategy) for a third time in the Federal Ministry of Defense. Here he was responsible for the staffing of the personnel development initiated in the same year by the Federal Minister of Defense Ursula von der Leyen , the management and guidance of the implementation of the Bundeswehr's personnel strategy and the continuation of the Bundeswehr's attractiveness agenda.

Service as a general

On October 17, 2018, Reiland switched to the position of Head of Personnel Recruitment in the Federal Office for Personnel Management of the Bundeswehr , where he is entrusted, among other things, with the competitive modernization of recruiting for the Bundeswehr.

Private

Reiland is married and has two daughters. He is a dedicated Roman Catholic Christian.
