Franklin MacDonald (born April 8, 1985 in Sydney , Nova Scotia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played between 2009 and 2016 at EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League (EBEL). Most recently he was under contract with the Nottingham Panthers .
Career
Franklin MacDonald began his career as a hockey player with the Truro Bearcats (MJAHL) for which he played in the 2002/03 season. He then played for the Halifax Mooseheads (LHJMQ) for three seasons (2003-2006) in the Canadian junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . Then the defender received a contract with the Rochester Americans (AHL) from the American Hockey League, for which he was on the ice for a total of three years. In his first season in the Rochester franchise , however, he was mainly used for their cooperation partner, the Florida Everblades from the ECHL.
From the 2009/10 season he played at EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (EBEL). In the 2011/12 season he was Austrian champion with the EHC Linz .
Since his contract with EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz was not renewed, he moved to Canada in the 2015/16 season to the Clarenville Ford Caribous in the CWSHL. In the same season he moved back to the professional field to the Nottingham Panthers in the British EIHL . With the Panthers he became EIHL Challenge Cup Champion and EIHL Playoff Champion.
