The Franz Fischer Hut is one at 2020  m above sea level. A. located alpine club hut in the Radstädter Tauern . It is named after Franz Fischer , who was chairman of the Vienna PES section Tauriskia from 1923 until his death in 1944. It is located in the municipality of Zederhaus in Salzburg and serves as a base on the Zentralalpenweg , an Austrian long-distance hiking trail from Hainburg an der Donau to Feldkirch .

history

The construction of the hut was decided by the Tauriskia Section in 1923, but the hut was not built until 1930/31. It originally had 31 mattress dorms . In 1935 the hut was destroyed by a dust avalanche, but reopened in 1936. After another avalanche in 1963, the hut was rebuilt elsewhere and opened in 1966.

After the dissolution of the Tauriskia section, the Lungau section of the OeAV took over responsibility for the hiking trails in 2011. The section decided to rebuild the hut, as renovating the old building did not seem appropriate due to major water damage.

In 2013 the Franz Fischer Hut was rebuilt according to plans by Mauterndorf architect Florian Lüftenegger. The building, which cost 700,000 euros, was financed not only by own funds and subsidies from the Alpine Association and the State of Salzburg but also by a contribution of 80,000 euros from the British "Britannia Section". The new hut has four rooms with two to six beds, dormitories with 15 beds, and winter camps with six beds. The dining room ( Britannia-Stube ) and the seminar room offer a total of 44 seats, the terrace 50 seats. The hut has been open again since June 20, 2014.
