Franz Christoph von Manteuffel

Franz Christoph von Manteuffel (* 1701 in Neustettin ; † October 10, 1759 in Schweidnitz ) was a Prussian colonel and head of the regiment .

Life

origin

Franz Christoph was a member of the Poplow tribe of the Pomeranian noble family Manteuffel . His parents were the Pomeranian landowner Franz Heinrich von Manteuffel (1650–1722) and Elisabeth Esther von der Osten .

Military career

Manteuffel joined the Prussian Army in 1711 and was an ensign in the grenadiers in 1712 . He already served as captain in 1722 in the regiment "Prince Leopold" and in 1729 in the regiment "von Dossow" . He was promoted to major in 1740 and lieutenant colonel in 1743 . In September 1745 he was already a colonel and commander of the “von Schwerin” regiment. Exactly two years later he took over the regiment chief of the “von Puttkamer” regiment , which he led until his death.

In 1729 he had sold his Lümzow estate and he could not inherit his share in Gross Poplow.

family

Manteuffel married Maria Margarete von dem Knesebeck . The marriage resulted in two sons and two daughters:

  1. Ewald Christoph († 1745), Prussian lieutenant in Bohemia in the Second Silesian War fallen
  2. Friedrich Georg Christian († after 1764), Prussian colonel in the "von Hanstein" regiment ⚭ Barbara Charlotte von Weyher from the Langefuhr family
  3. Dorothea Marie Elisabeth († 1754) ⚭ Melchior Ludwig Wronke von Deminsky, heir to Demin
  4. Friederike Sophie Christiane Wilhelmine (1730–1773) ⚭ 1749 August Leberecht von Manteuffel (1703–1770), heir to Drosedow and Kummerow
