Franz Isidor Proschko , pseudonym: Franz von Hohenfurth , (born April 2, 1816 in Hohenfurth , Bohemia , † February 6, 1891 in Vienna ) was an Austrian writer and lawyer .

Life

From 1828 he attended grammar school in Budweis and then studied civil and criminal law at the University in Prague . After completing his studies at the University of Vienna with a legal dissertation , he accepted a position as an intern at the police headquarters in Linz . He married as such and it was there that his daughter Hermine Camilla , who later also worked as a writer, was born at the end of July 1851 . Proschko was appointed secretary of the Francisco Carolinum Museum in Linz on October 22, 1853 .

Proschko was also a police officer and after a stopover in Graz he was transferred to Vienna in 1867. In 1878 he was awarded the title of Police Council and in 1883 he retired . Franz Isidor Proschko died on February 6, 1891 in Vienna at the age of 75. He found his final resting place in a grave of honor in the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 0, row 1, number 37) between the composers Joseph Mayseder and Johannes Baptist Moser .

In Vienna and Vyšší Brod (Hohenfurth), memorial plaques still commemorate him today. In Linz there is the Proschko walk.

Works (selection)

In total, Proschko wrote around 75 works - mainly poems , novels and novels . Proschko has received several awards for his literary work. From Emperor Franz Joseph I he was awarded the Great Golden Medal for Art and Science and Pope Pius IX. awarded him the Order of St. George .
