Franz Mairecker
Franz Mairecker (born April 11, 1879 in Gumpoldskirchen , † May 11, 1950 in Vienna ) was an Austrian violinist .
Life
Franz Mairecker studied from 1889 to 1895 with Josef Maxinczak, Jakob Moritz Grün , Ernst Ludwig and Robert Fuchs at the Vienna Conservatory . He then worked as a temporary worker in the Vienna Court Opera Orchestra .
The violinist became a member of the Vienna Philharmonic in 1898 . There he held various functions. From 1909 to 1938 he was a member of the orchestra's committee, from 1911 to 1933 deputy board member and from 1921 concertmaster . In 1922 he founded the Mairecker Quartet , with which he traveled through Europe and America. He owned an old winery in his place of birth, Gumpoldskirchen.
From 1919 Franz Mairecker taught violin and chamber music at the Academy for Music and Performing Arts, which emerged from the Vienna Conservatory. There he became a lecturer in 1924 and associate professor in 1929 . In addition, he worked from 1922 as a member of the examination committee for the teaching profession in music at secondary schools and teacher training institutions.
Mairecker retired in 1945 with the Vienna Philharmonic and in 1946 at the Academy. He died four years later at the age of 71.
