Franz Peter von Cornerut

Franz Peter von Cornerut (* 1734 in Brzeg ; † April 28, 1808 there ) was a Prussian major general and most recently in command of the Brzeg fortress .

Life

Cornerut came in 1754 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "de Hautcharmoy" . During the Seven Years' War he fought in the battles near Prague , Kolin , Leuthen and in the battles of Konradswaldau, Bautsch and Domstädtl . During that time he became ensign on May 22, 1757 and second lieutenant on December 10, 1760 .

After the war, Cornerut was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on September 12, 1769 . By February 15, 1778 he was promoted to staff captain and as such took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On September 29, 1779 he became captain and company commander . On January 5, 1787 he became major and on June 26, 1791 battalion commander. During the campaign in Poland in 1795/95, Cornerut fought in the siege of Warsaw . At the end of the campaign on January 2, 1795 he was now lieutenant colonel , on January 16, 1796 colonel and on January 4, 1797 he was appointed commander of the regiment. On December 29, 1801 he was transferred to Brieg as commander and successor to Lieutenant Colonel Koschinsky because of his poor health. As early as May 20, 1801 he was appointed major general. When the French appeared before Brieg during the Fourth Coalition War , Cornerut capitulated. On September 13, 1807, he was put on half pay, but from October 23, 1807 he received no more money, as a court martial was being prepared for the surrender of Brieg. But he died on April 28, 1808 in Brieg.

Cornerut married on March 28, 1778 in Brig Adolfine Johanna Charlotte von Schreibersdorff (* November 1737; † January 21, 1807) from the house of Klein-Schweinern.
