Franz Reatz

Franz Peter Joseph Reatz (born February 2, 1801 in Bensheim , † July 30, 1882 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian lawyer and politician and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Franz Reatz was the son of the court judge Franz Ludwig Kasimir Reatz (1769-1830) and his wife Clara Joseph, née Versbach. Reatz, who was a Catholic, married Luise Henriette, born Held (1805-1851), on November 22, 1828 in Darmstadt.

Reatz studied law from 1818 at the University of Giessen . In 1824 he became court attorney and procurator at the court in Darmstadt . In 1845 he was appointed to the judiciary, in 1850 to chamber attorney and in 1854 to chief tax attorney. In 1856 he became a tax attorney and retired in 1873.

From 1857 to 1862 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Starkenburg 12 / Bensheim .
