Life

Thanks to the mediation of the Tarrenz artist Karl Siber , Franz Xaver Hauser, who came from a poor background, attended the Elbigenalp carving school , which he graduated with distinction. He then joined the Toni Kirchmayr painting and drawing school in Innsbruck in 1949/1950 . Because of his talent, Kirchmayr recommended him to Franz Santifaller at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna , where he studied with Fritz Wotruba and Herbert Boeckl from 1950 to 1954 . He earned the money for his studies as a ross servant in Switzerland. After graduating in 1954, he worked as a freelance artist, from 1958 he lived in Vienna. From the 1960s onwards, he received several commissions for art objects on municipal housing in Vienna.

Hauser went on study trips to Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Yugoslavia and Switzerland. He had exhibitions in Munich , Trieste , Milan and Paris, among others . From 1986 to 1990 he was section head of the sculpture section of the professional association of visual artists in Austria .

Franz Xaver Hauser created sculptures in stone and wood, whereby he broke away from objectivity at an early stage . He is considered one of the first avant-garde artists from Tyrol.
