Franziska Hundseder

Franziska Hundseder (* 1953 ) is a German journalist and author . She lives in France.

Life

Franziska Hundseder studied Romance studies , German studies and psychology . She worked for the political television magazine Panorama . She also works for radio , newspapers such as Die Zeit , magazines such as Stern, and trade union publications . Her topics as a journalist are quality of reporting, extremism, youth and violence as well as right-wing extremism in Germany .

The publication of their photo and their home address in the newspaper Nachrichten of the Student Union of Silesia prompted members of the Bundestag Ulla Jelpke and Gregor Gysi and their group in 1993 to make a small inquiry to the Federal Government about what they knew about the threats to journalists from right-wing extremists and in how many cases they did so Would have received personal protection.

In 1997 Franziska Hundseder was elected chairman of the provisional federal executive committee of the German Union of Journalists (dju) , in October 1998 she became dju federal chairman. In the same year she turned against the federal government's plans for a large eavesdropping attack and declared that Germany was already “world champion in wiretapping ”.

In an interview with Spiegel Online in 2000, Franziska Hundseder pointed out deficits in reporting on right-wing extremism. She criticized the fact that journalists hardly reported on right-wing extremist clubs. These groups are registered as associations and receive donations that are deducted from taxes; in this way taxpayers unwittingly supported their work.

She was a member of the jury for the Adolf Grimme Prize , from 1989 to 2002 a member of the German Press Council and the main board of IG Medien . Franziska Hundseder resigned from the dju federal board before the first federal conference of the dju in ver.di in 2003; Her successor was temporarily Manfred Protze up to the federal congress in Halle .
