Frederick Karlomuana Timakata

Frederick "Fred" Karlomuana Timakata (* 1936 or 1937 on Émaé ; † March 21, 1995 ) was a Vanuatu politician.

Timakata was trained to be a teacher and later a pastor. He served as a pastor on various islands for some time and then at Pacific Theological College . In 1971 he was one of the founding members of the New Hebrides National Party and in 1973 he became its vice-president. In 1979 he became a member of the National Assembly. After independence (1980) he was President of the Parliament from 1985 to 1988 , Minister of Health from 1988 to 1989 and Acting President from February 17 to March 8, 1984 and President of Vanuatu from January 30, 1989 to January 30, 1994.
