Freizeit is a broadcast on BR television . It was first broadcast on January 31, 1991, then under the title Freizeit-Magazin , since 2007 as freizeit .

concept

The show presents various leisure activities. Since 2003 it has been moderated by Max Schmidt in Bavarian dialect . The program is broadcast every fortnight, alternating with the mountaineering magazine Bergauf-Bergab . According to BR, the moderator acts, among other things, as a craftsman, storyteller, Bavarian veteran and globetrotter.

Michael Pause , previously Hermann Magerer , has been the responsible editor of the show since 1998 . Co-founders of the show are Herbert Stiglmaier and Frank Meißner, who have been responsible for the show from the beginning until today.

In 2016, the show celebrated its 25th anniversary, by then more than 575 episodes had been broadcast.

Awards

The free time was several times by the Association of German Travel Journalists (VDRJ) on the world's biggest travel fair ITB awarded in Berlin. The prizes went to the scriptwriters and editors Herbert Stiglmaier and Frank Meißner , to Alexander Saran and André Goerschel for directing and to the editor Ines Seiter , as well as to the moderator Schmidt Max .

The editor Herbert Stiglmaier was also to editors leisure with the preservation medal of Bavaria awarded in 2014, on the grounds that he had the issue of monuments made famous by the television broadcast to a wide audience.

In 2018, scriptwriter and editor Frank Meißner was awarded the Catholic Media Prize in the category “journalistic WERTvoll” (electronic media) for the leisure edition “Schmidt Max and the audience with the Pope” on November 19, 2017.

In 2019 the editors Herbert Stiglmaier and Frank Meißner were awarded the German Prize for Monument Protection in the “Journalist Prize” category for the freizeit edition “Schmidt Max and the beer in the monument” broadcast in 2018.
