Frenke (Emmerthal)

Frenke is part of the municipality of Emmerthal in the Hameln-Pyrmont district . The village has 125 inhabitants (May 1, 2005) and is part of the Emmerthal village of Börry .

geography

The center of Frenke is at an altitude of about 70 to 75  m above sea level. NN and about 1.5 km east of the Weser . The district town of Hameln is about 12 km north of Frenke. The Eichberg, about 2 km southeast of Frenke, is the highest elevation in the vicinity at 248 m above sea level.

history

The first documentary mention as "Vranki" can be found for the year 1050 in the Corvey Monastery inventory . Frenke was the ancestral seat of the knight dynasty of the "Lords of Frenke" who had free float in the Hameln - Polle - Alfeld area.

During the Seven Years' War , the French troops crossed the Weser on July 16, 1757 under the command of Marshal d'Estrées : From July 24 to 25, they set up their camps around Börry and then withdrew to the battle of Hastenbeck .

The independent community for centuries was in the 16. – 19. Century belonged first to the office Wickensen - noble court Hehlen, then to the office Grohnde . It was then part of the Grohnde-Ohsen office that opened in the newly founded Hameln district in 1885 . Since April 1, 1922, it has belonged to the Hameln-Pyrmont district . In the course of the municipality reform in Lower Saxony, the place loses its municipal status on January 1, 1973 and becomes part of the village of Börry in the unified municipality of Emmerthal.

In 2002 Frenke was the district winner in the competition " Our village should be more beautiful - our village has a future."

Worth seeing

In the place there are u. a. a cottage garden , a private museum of local history and a meadow orchard with 35 old German fruit varieties.
