Signs for the Fricktaler Höhenweg

The Fricktaler Höhenweg is a 60 km long Swiss hiking route that leads over the foothills of the Table Jura from the Zähringer town of Rheinfelden via the market town of Frick to the wine village of Mettau . It is an adventure trail in a hilly natural landscape with cultural sights and serves to promote hiking in the Fricktal . The Fricktaler Höhenweg is maintained by volunteers.

Emergence

In 1988, inspired by the common historical past of the two Aargau districts of Rheinfelden and Laufenburg and on the initiative of Max Mahrer, volunteers took over the marking of this path. The construction costs of the hiking trail were borne by the Aargauische Kantonalbank on the occasion of its 75th anniversary.

In the landscape of the Fricktal , the hiker moves on historical ground. This is also expressed by the signs for the Fricktaler Höhenweg, which differ from the yellow signs for the Swiss SAW hiking trails . The blue shields are adorned with a coat of arms showing a green linden leaf on a white background. It is the emblem of the canton of Fricktal (1802-1803), which is intended to indicate the eventful historical past of the border region between the Jura and the Rhine .
