Frieder and Friederspitz form a double-peaked mountain massif ( 2053  m and 2049  m ) in the eastern part of the Kreuzspitz group of the Ammergau Alps between Graswang and Loisachtal . The name of the mountain range is Friederberg . The Friederspitz can be reached on a mountain hike from Griesen ( Ausserfernbahn train station between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Ehrwald ). The transition to the summit of Frieder is easy. On climbing tracks into a lower saddle (approx. 70 vertical meters descent) and then on to the Frieder summit.

The Friederspitz lies exactly on the municipality border between the market Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the municipality-free area Ettaler Forst . About 550 meters north of it, Frieder lies within the Ettal Forest.
